Open Gardens 2015 raises over £6000
Open Gardens in June 2015 was the fifth biennial event for Histon and Impington and was another wonderful day enjoyed by hundreds of visitors.
£5600 raised by the event will be split equally between the four charities – Diabetes UK, Histon & Impington Feast, Home-Start (Cambs) and WaterAid; this retains some funds to use as start-up costs for another event.
The first cheque for £1,400 is handed over to Helen Tye from Home-Start Cambridgeshire; they will use the money to fund the training of staff and volunteers for the Big Hopes Big Future project, which helps parents give their young children the stimulation, routines and self confidence they need to be able to start school ready to learn.
Sixteen gardens were open – nine of which were new to the event. In additional visitors were able to explore the Histon and Impington Community Orchard.
There was a variety of music in six of the gardens and three served afternoon tea. The Information Point acted as a focal point for selling programmes and selling plants.

Open Gardens would like to extend a big thankyou to all the garden owners for being so generous as to open their gardens. And also the large team of volunteers who helped before and on the day.
